Disability Connect Parents’ Support Group Evening – 7th July – COVID-19 Vaccination Information for people with disabilities (your questions answered)

Wednesday 7th July (6pm – 8pm)
Mt Richmond School
30 Albion Road, Otahuhu, Auckland
Free event with light supper included – All are Welcome!

Speakers are Dr Rosemary Marks (Retired, Developmental paediatrician at Auckland’s Starship Hospital until 2019) and Dr Marguerite Dalton (Paediatric Specialist at Manukau SuperClinic)

People with disabilities and their families were affected by Covid-19 and the ensuing lockdowns much more than the general population. Finally, the long awaited Covid19 vaccine is available in New Zealand. However, there is both a sense of relief and trepidation in the community with regards to being vaccinated. This is understandable because people with disabilities are more vulnerable and those who care for them want to proceed with due caution.

Disability Connect has invited Drs Marks and Dalton to present the latest and most up to date information with regards to the vaccine.

Both Drs Rosie and Marguerite are Medical Specialists with many years of service to families that are caring for their disabled loved ones. We are very fortunate to have them present the most up to date Covid-19 vaccination information on this evening. They will explain the science behind the changing nature of the Covid virus, different vaccines available and the make-up of these vaccines including the one that is being offered to us in New Zealand.
The presentation will explore all aspects of vaccination, including safety. There will be a question and answer session. Please email any questions that you have about Covid vaccination and our presenters will do their best to answer them with the information that is available at the time of the meeting.

This is a free event for people with disabilities and their whanau. Refreshments and light supper will be provided. Let us know of any accessibility, dietary, sign-language or other needs you may have so we can make sure your needs are attended to.

NZSL Sign Interpreters will be available this evening.
